As the season of giving approaches, we’re reminded that Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday are only part of the story. In the frenzy of shopping lists, discounts, and deals, it’s easy to get swept up in a world focused on what we can gain. But imagine—just for a moment—what we could give instead.
This Giving Tuesday, we have a chance to pause, reset, and choose a different path. Rather than asking, “What can I get?” we can ask, “What can I give?” Giving Tuesday isn’t just about charity; it’s about recognizing that each of us has the power to change lives and make a real impact. It’s an invitation to recenter ourselves on what truly matters—to look beyond ourselves and see our neighbors, our community, and our shared future.
This year, our parish’s Giving Tuesday campaign offers a chance to support two critical funds: the School Endowment Fund and St. Vincent de Paul. Each donation has a ripple effect that extends far beyond the initial gift, providing tuition assistance to school families, supporting the community, and helping those in need among us. When we give, we don’t just support programs; we strengthen families, nurture hope, and reinforce a legacy of compassion and love.
Imagine what a difference we can make together. Imagine the lives touched, the burdens eased, and the opportunities opened—all because we chose to give rather than receive. This Giving Tuesday, let’s make a choice that echoes our deepest values. Let’s come together not because we have to, but because we can, and because our community deserves it.

What is #GivingTuesday?
#GivingTuesday is a worldwide day dedicated to giving back and celebrating generosity. Built on the gratitude felt during the Thanksgiving holiday and following the consumer-centered events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
Celebrate Generosity
We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On #GivingTuesday, charities, families, businesses, community centers, churches, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
Who Participates in #Giving Tuesday?
#GivingTuesday brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners— nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals—to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness— little gestures of love which Pope Francis encourages.
How Do I Become Part of the #Giving Tuesday Celebration?
It’s a simple idea. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity. #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season when many think about end-of-year giving. On #GivingTuesday we are asking the entire Epiphany of the Lord parish community to help families realize the gift of Catholic education for their children by giving to the Endowment Fund or to one of the two St. Vincent de Paul conferences in our parish, Sun Prairie or Marshall/Waterloo.
Make #GivingTuesday Part of Your Year-End Charitable Giving
It is never to early to start thinking about year-end charitable giving. When you itemize deductions, funds used to make gifts are subtracted from the amount subject to tax. This means the higher your tax bracket, the more you save. Regardless of your income tax bracket, charitable gifts can provide welcome savings at tax time. Additionally, you can feel good about being a thoughtful steward of your resources and supporting your parish community.
